Enterprise Data Engineering and Reporting Enablement

Multinational Infrastructure Engineering and Advisory Consultancy Case Study

OQLIS provided specialist data consulting support to help the client strengthen its internal reporting capability across people, compliance, and financial performance. The engagement focused on integrating new enterprise system data into an existing Microsoft-based reporting environment and transforming raw data into reliable outputs used across the business.

Challenge

The client was undergoing a major enterprise system transition while needing to maintain continuity across existing business-critical reports. Their reporting environment was built around SQL Server, SSAS, and Power BI, and the new data needed to be incorporated without disrupting established reporting structures.

At the same time, the business required improved reporting outputs from the newly available data, with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and usability for decision-making across different teams.

Solution

OQLIS supported the client across the full reporting lifecycle, from data engineering and warehouse development through to semantic modelling and Power BI reporting.

Raw system data was transformed into structured reporting tables using SQL Server stored procedures and optimised SQL logic. The team also developed and refined SSAS measures to support accurate reporting in Power BI.

The work covered two key areas: people analytics, including workforce demographics and compliance reporting for more than 2,000 employees; and financial analytics, including project revenue, margin, forecasting, and executive-level performance reporting across project, phase, and task levels.

In addition to development work, OQLIS supported investigations, issue resolution, and planning for future reporting phases, helping the client identify data issues, understand root causes, and implement practical solutions within their existing Microsoft technology stack.

Outcome / Value

The engagement helped the client maintain reporting continuity through a significant system transition while improving the quality and usability of its data outputs.

By converting raw source data into trusted reporting structures, the project enabled more consistent reporting across both people and financial domains. Power BI dashboards published to internal workspaces gave business users clearer visibility into workforce compliance, revenue performance, margins, and project-level financial outcomes.

The work demonstrated the value of strong data engineering expertise combined with practical problem-solving, giving the client a scalable reporting foundation and continued confidence in its internal analytics capability.
